The origional tub mill and dwelling was sold to Joel Sanders for $900 in 1908. In 1913 the mill was purchased by K L Hendrix who later converted the mill to a roller mill and replaced the wheel with a turbine. In 1932 state highway 68 was built between the dam and mill. To keep the mill in operation the long overhead wooden flume was replaced by a 26" steel pipe under the new road. Charles Bailes purchased the mill in 1954. Bailes removed the roller mill machinery and replaced the turbine with a 24' x 2' Fitz overshot water wheel which still operates today. In 1977 the mill was sold to the current owners who continue to operate the mill on a full-time basis today.
(textures by flypaper)
Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-68622554574275471592011-05-20T07:53:00.001-07:002011-05-20T07:53:05.218-07:00Three

Three, a photo by cemaine (Sarah Beard Buckley) on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
Who says three's a crowd ..
Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-55639858421964158602011-05-20T07:52:00.003-07:002011-05-20T07:52:42.173-07:00View

View, a photo by — Mike on Flickr.

Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-13660216316320883572011-05-20T07:52:00.001-07:002011-05-20T07:52:24.146-07:00Don't You Rock My Boat! Andaman Sea is on the West side. The Gulf color tends to be aqua or green due to algae and nutrients while the Andaman Sea is more blue.

Chumphon is a Thai Province not overly developed and bombarded with tourism yet. Since it's on the Gulf side, it's protected from Tsunami. The Gulf is also popular among scuba divers (like myself) and best visited in Summer and Fall. Andaman Sea is a more favorable choice among divers in Winter and Spring to avoid monsoon in the Gulf.

Side note: The locals consider their country a two-system climate: hot and f-ing hot, so I was told. In all seriousness, their cool season (our Winter) is just perfect.

[Explored 2011.05.16]
Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-75450934830225011012011-05-20T07:51:00.003-07:002011-05-20T07:51:54.759-07:00No rowing today at the Traunsee

No rowing today at the Traunsee, a photo by B℮n on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
© all rights reserved by B℮n

Please take your time... to View it large on black

From Passau - Germany we drove to Austria. Do you wonder why it's always so green in Austria? Cause it rains now and than, not always good weather in these region of the Alps. We arrived at the Traunsee. Lake Traun is the deepest of the lakes in the Salzkammergut at 191 meters. In summertime the area is the perfect location for a lakes and mountains holiday. But no swimming today, so we visited Schloss Ort, a tiny castle on a miniature island in the Traunsee. Cross the bridge onto the island and wander around the picturesque castle whose courtyard is surrounded by arcaded balconies. One side of the courtyard leads to a pretty little chapel. Lake Castle Orth The palace is named after the Ort family -- powerful people in this region in the 11th and 12th centuries. When their power waned, the kingdom began changing hands frequently. More often than not, it was bought or sold, but occasionally gained new owners through death or marriage. Today, young couple flock to the island for wedding ceremonies, but are probably unaware of the most famous marriage that happened here. In 1890, Archduke Johann Nepumuk Salvator married Milli Stubel, right after renouncing his position in the Habsburg empire and changing his name to Johann Orth -- after this castle.

Schloss Ort is a castle located on a little island at the Traunsee near Gmunden in Upper Austria. Gmunden offers a beautiful walk along the lake. The view to the lake and mountain behind it are absolutely breathaking.

Rabat - La Kasba degli Oudaïa 2, a photo by ninin 50 - Ai Monti on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
www.rabat-maroc.net/oudaias/les%20oudaias.htm
Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-3874958863446376402011-05-20T07:50:00.003-07:002011-05-20T07:50:44.978-07:00***

***, a photo by AnaMontreal on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
Mimosas make me think of ink brushes , they also bring to my mind a Haiku by Saryu :

Without a brush
The willow paints the wind
Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-46329686948244400852011-05-20T07:50:00.001-07:002011-05-20T07:50:23.533-07:00DSC_1097

DSC_1097, a photo by flemming. d5000 on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
( Roskilde ) Denmark.
Jon Bironhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06398467008484819674noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8213088260785240480.post-20530988423811153112011-05-19T15:51:00.003-07:002011-05-19T15:51:38.358-07:00Magical Fire

Magical Fire, a photo by Wojtek Toman on Flickr.

Via Flickr:
PLEASE VIEW IN LARGE: HERE OR PRESS L

Shooting fire with fast shutter speed reveals some amazing details we are not really used to seeing.
