Beach Volleyball

Some of the fondest memories I have of the beach belong to the time spent under the net. I often am torn between grabbing a board (surf or boogie) and hitting the waves, or getting a solid game of volleyball going. The problem with volleyball is finding three other people that all want to play and have the same passion to play. You see, for me (and some of the folks in these pictures) its not beach volleyball until your eyes are stinging from the sweat and your teeth are covered in sand. I love the feeling of flying through the air, punctuated by the perfect dig, and followed by the scramble to get up out of the sand so that you can follow up your friends ideal set with a powerful and hopefully un-returnable spike.

Summer is upon us and it is high time some of us head to the beach and get the game on!

Wikipedia says:

Beach volleyball is a popular sport in which two teams, positioned on either side of a net, hit a ball back and forth over the net, usually using the hands or arms. Beach volleyball evolved from indoor volleyball, and the two sports remain very similar. The most important differences between them are that rather than being played on indoor hard courts, beach volleyball is played on sand courts, and instead of teams of six, beach volleyball teams consist of only two players.

Note: I normally strive to place only one picture per artist per day. However, I have had a lot of technical difficulty tonight, so I am forced to let slide the fact that I didn't notice that diglips had three shots on this post. They are very good shots and I don't have the energy to replace them tonight. I will add two "bonus pictures" when I have a chance.
