Well, if you're not buying a stairway to heaven, you can probably relax for a little while and enjoi these fine pictures of stairs. I first started noticing the first picture in this post (Blue Stairs) popping up in several peoples favorites a few months ago. It was certainly one of the things that inspired me to create this blog. It is most definitely the inspiration for this post. While Awaraa has many incredible photos, this one just keeps drawing me in and keeping me there. In a grouping of 36 pictures this one always catches my attention! It is like the screaming fire engine on a bright sunny day.

So as always, I started poking around for other pictures of stairs. Interestingly, I found that there were actually a lot of pictures of "blue stairs". If the stairs themselves were not blue, something around them was blue. So tonights post became blue stairs. At some point as I was going through all these incredible blue stair photos, I began humming stairway to heaven... and the rest as they say, 'is history'.

What good would Wikipedia be if it couldn't help us better understand the nature and "precise" definition of a stairway (or stairs for that matter)?

Stairs, staircase, stairway, stairwell, and flight of stairs are all names for a construction designed to bridge a large vertical distance by dividing it into smaller vertical distances, called steps. Stairways may be straight, round, or may consist of two or more straight pieces connected at angles.Special stairways include escalators and ladders. Alternatives to stairways are elevators, stairlifts and inclined moving sidewalks.
