Standing outside right before a lightning storm has a feeling. The air is weird. I suppose it is because there is electricity in the air. The sky looks strange. There is a yellow-green tint all around. The clouds are moving into position.
The rain is different to. Not a light soft rain. Not a sprinkle or heavy fog. This rain is big. Giant drops bursting with water fall from on high. Lots of them. This ironically calls to mind phrases like, "when it rains it pours". You are drenched instantly so there is no point in running for cover.
